Winner analysis:

Nicky Henderson has won the last two renewals (3 winners last 7 years) and looks to have another live chance in Monte Cristo. He meets all of the general stats and has been kept fresh for a tilt at this and I’ve backed EW. Botox Has also has a strong profile and looking through his juvenile form looks fairly well treated and he does boast course form. Whilst his last couple of runs have been below par, perhaps the heavy ground was to blame, he should appreciate the step up in trip and likelier better going and he is definitely one to look at. Next best on the generals after the aforementioned is Grand Roi and he looks to have been plotted out for this by his shrewd (former) trainer.

Gaelic Warrior (4/1) has been well backed over the last 24 hours due to Rich Ricci’s comments however I would be genuinely concerned about his tendency to jump right, even more so on the old course which is used for the first two days. Il Etait Temps (9/2) has the best EW profile along with Facile Vega (12/1), however the latter looks unlikely to run in this race at present, if he did though I will be backing EW.
